excellent book is invaluable for placing into context the life of my great-grandfather, a Canadian immigrant in 1875 to (first) Sonoma County and, (then) Colusa County, CA. He was a poultryman of some standing in both counties. Although I've not yet seen his name mentioned, I have a much clearer picture of what his life was like, as well as the lives of the entire family, for my father was born in Cotati in 1922.
